I'm an Australian in japan. I'm in Osaka right now and I'm going to Tokyo in about 3 days. There are a lot of perverts looking up girls skirts in the streets I saw that on my first night here. It's really dirty and so are the tourist attractions like Mt Fuji and I'm not too sure if they're kind, but more polite. I used to think like you, it's been one week and I can't wait to get back to Aus. This place is disgusting.
